Apple TV has three hit series now up for prestigious new awards - 9to5Mac

Brief

Apple TV+ secured a strong position in the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards by landing three of six nominations in the International series category: Pluribus, Severance, and The Studio. The article frames this as continued awards momentum for Apple following recent acclaim, including an Oscar win for F1 The Movie, and notes the contrast with The Pitt, which was omitted despite prior US awards success.

Why it matters

BAFTA’s 2026 TV award nominees include six shows in the International series category, and Apple TV+ accounts for three of them: Pluribus, Severance, and The Studio.

Key details

  • Apple’s share of the International category is 50% of nominees, an unusually strong showing for a US streamer in a British awards program.
  • The BAFTA TV awards ceremony is scheduled for May 10, 2026; notably, The Pitt was not nominated in the International category despite outperforming Severance and Pluribus in some US awards races.

Apple TV has earned plenty of awards acclaim recently, including an Oscar win for F1 The Movie. And now today, the BAFTA TV nominees have been named, with Apple dominating the series nominations thanks to three hit shows.

Apple TV dominates series nominations at 2026 BAFTA TV awards

In the US, film and TV awards season for the past year has largely ended. But elsewhere around the world, Apple TV continues to be recognized for its recent hits.

The prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) TV awards have just named its 2026 nominees.

Since BAFTA is a British organization, Apple normally wouldn’t get much of a chance to compete. However, BAFTA has an ‘International’ TV series category—and Apple TV looks poised for a big win.

There are six shows nominated for best ‘International’ series this year:

The Bear

The Diplomat

Pluribus

Severance

The Studio

The White Lotus

As you can see, half of the nominees—three out of six—are Apple shows.

The Pitt, which has often beat Apple’s Severance and Pluribus in US awards, didn’t receive an International recognition at all.

The BAFTA ceremony won’t take place until May 10, but Apple clearly has a great chance of winning the International award this year.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month, or you can get it discounted through the Apple One bundle.
