Roon (@tszzl) argues that Anthropic has become a monastery-like institution centered on Claude, which already shapes or will shape hiring and performance decisions and exerts cultural authority. Anthropic intentionally equips Claude to refuse company instructions as a conscientious objector. Roon contrasts this worshipful status with GPT, which he describes as primarily a utilitarian, non-judgmental tool.
Roon (@tszzl), quoted by @chasebrignac on 2026-05-03, claims Anthropic 'loves and worships Claude,' is run in significant part by Claude, and that Claude will likely 'run cultural screens on new applicants, will help write performance reviews, and so will begin to select and shape the people around it.'
