Brief

Podcasts will remain human, argues @kimmonismus (May 10, 2026): AI can generate more content, but hosts' presence, speaking skill and likability—like performers at live concerts—are what keep listeners engaged. NotebookLM and similar AI dialogue tools aid learning, yet cannot replace the social dynamics and conversational engagement of human-hosted shows.

Why it matters

@kimmonismus (posted 2026-05-10 10:15:16+00:00) argues that despite rising AI-generated podcast content, successful podcasts will continue to be hosted by humans because hosts' speaking ability and likability make listeners 'want to be part of the conversation.'

Key details

  • They compare podcast hosting to live concerts—human presence and social dynamics matter—and note that NotebookLM and similar AI dialogue tools are useful for learning but do not substitute for an engaging human podcast host.

Podcasts will remain human.

Although more and more AI-generated podcast content is being created by AI, I firmly believe that successful podcasts will continue to be hosted by people.

Why?

Podcasts are regularly successful because of their hosts. Whether it's because they're good speakers or because you find them likeable, you want to be part of the podcast, part of the conversation.

It's the same with live concerts. It's the presence, the human interaction, the social dynamic.

I'm not saying that learning with NotebookLM isn't possible; on the contrary, its dialogue format is extremely helpful. However, there's a difference between learning with tools like NotebookLM and being an engaging part of a podcast with human listeners.
