Will and I mostly do this too, though yeah with more kids it happens more often that someone is driving someone somewhere and someone else has the little kids.

Not quite the same as this, but we do a lite version of this every day. Whoever has the kid, has the kid. The other parent is welcome to join in, but mostly we do “100% on, 100% off” parenting. Obviously easier because we only have 1, but we also have no help at all.
It’s not so much about “a whole day off”, but more that the 3-6 hour blocks that make up the rhythm of a child’s day are either fully my responsibility, or else I am fully free to do whatever else I need or want to.
Since I’m 100% responsible for him and also trying to give my wife a clear break, I spend almost all my time taking our son out the house on adventures doing things I like. So now one extra benefit is we have a ton of shared interests and I’ve gotten back into a lot of action sports I enjoyed or wanted to enjoy when I was younger.
